Firstly, I’m a man married to a man and I know gay marriage isn’t recognised in Japan. Also, sorry if this is answered elsewhere or easily found online, but from what I’ve found I can’t seem to get a specific answer to my question. It may also be a long shot, but I’d just love to know where I stand.
If I got a student visa to study a master’s degree for two years in Japan, would my husband be allowed to get a visa and stay with me, too? If so, would he be allowed to work as a freelancer while in Japan? We’re both EU citizens.
I understand that freelancers have to apply for special permission to work once under a student visa, but I don’t know how it would work (if at all) for my husband?
