Hello All,
I’m currently a UK national in Japan on a 90 days temporary stay visa.
I’m getting married to my Japanese girlfriend at the end of this month/beginning of next month but getting a tokyo embassy appointment for some of the documentation took a bit longer than expected and would land on the very last day of the current 90 days. It wouldn’t give enough time to get married and apply for the change of status.
I’m of the understanding that UK nationals can extend their temporary stay up to another 90 days and a total of 180 days at an immigration office.
If I tell them I’m requesting more time because I’m getting married in Japan, is it likely to raise eyebrows or is that a sufficient reason?
