Am I supposed to be fired for being sick and following instructions?

Today I was informed by my let’s call them the division (vice)leader that my contract was terminated by the higher ups due to me having had too many days off work, calling me unprofessional and that I wouldn’t be able to work hard after such a long break. This to me was very frustrating because all I’ve been doing is following instructions from the division leadership and my doctor about when to go to work and when not to go to work.

Long story short, I got flu like symptoms in early December(8th), got tested for covid once and influenza twice, all negative, got diagnosed with strep throat(pharyngitis streptococcus A) which turned out to be a misdiagnosis which would be figured out 5 days later(Dec 14th) that I actually have either Mycoplasma or whooping cough. 7 days of the right treatment later and a blood test also taking 7 days(Dec 21st), turned out to be whooping cough. Doctor recommended me to take another day off (Fri Dec 22nd) as they determined that it might be best to start working the next week instead of right away. So I had my doctor’s certificate ready to go, however I was told I would still have a cough for a month and I told the division leadership about it and they decided I should take a longer break and start work again next year due to the disturbance it would make for my job (Jan 4th). Fair enough, but today when I came to work, I’m told through the division vice leader that the higher ups thought I was unprofessional and my contract terminated.

Now I will make a slight caveat of worry which is that the contract seems to refresh monthly and I only have a physical contract for November and I have no idea if this is a suspiciously exploitable tactic made by the company to the point of possibly being able to deny I was employed.

Other than that, my vice division leader told me to email them in case I can get them to reconsider and to share any information I get with her.

As for what I do know is that I’ve gathered that I should gather proof of medical treatment, and the change of diagnosis and treatment and testimony from division leadership about their order to have me take more days off.

Are there so far any glaring problems or things I should know? Am I being negligent in some way?Any help or advice would be appreciated greatly!
