Soon hitting 2 years in same apartment. Im pretty sure my landlord is satisfied with me as a tenant and there would be value for her in not having to go through the hassle and risks of finding a new one. Same for me, i like it here. But then we have this bullshit system in japan where every second year you renegotiate the contract and usually pay an extra month of rent. Just this alone make me consider moving, even though i like it here, since im anyway have to carry a large portion of the moving cost.
So basically, even if my contract clearly states i need to pay this, would there be room for, or possible to negotiate? Or rather, how about i just propse to my landlord that ill continue to live here provided i dont have to pay an extra months rent. Otherwise I will consider moving out by the 2 year date. Would that be an outrageous proposal?
