How would you go about writing this?

I’m watching probably my favorite Japanese drama, MIU 404, and I thought I’d type all of the moments that made me laugh out, in Japanese. I was wondering if I should add the translation, furigana… or not? Because I *am* working on learning Japanese from MIU-404.

Or should I single out words and just type them out/translate them instead of trying to translate whole sentences and phrases?

Or should I leave it alone and keep rewatching until I can finally understand the kanji readings and the definitions/phrases by heart? I’m using language reactor to help me out with this so it adds furigana 🤣

  1. It depends on the person, I firmly believe that you should make anki cards of all the words that you came across, you probably won’t remember the word for long without using space repetition.

The biggest factor to consider is how do you learn new vocab? If you learn from reading books or somewhere else then I don’t think it is necessary to make cards of the words that you see in the show, you can just write it a couple of times and add it to your cards later on when you come across it again in your reading time.

And to answer wether to use furigana or not, in my opinion you should never use furigana on the front of you cards and you should never read anything that contains furigana, you are not learning the kanji, you are reading the furigana.

The furigana will always distract you and give you a false sense of confidence, chances are that when the times that you need to read some kanji without furigana arrives you won’t be able to do that.
