Sorry for the depressing topic, but my Japanese father-in-law just passed away and we’re dealing with the planning now in Ibaraki.
We were quoted around 1.25M yen for the costs so far, but sounds like after adding in food and priest costs this could increase to 2M yen. This is for a small family ceremony (not a large gathering).
I must admit I was annoyed to see a 20,000yen hygiene cost there (likely a holdover from covid days).
While we don’t exactly have many choices, would like to hear what is a reasonable budget for all the relevant costs, or any current links of note.
