Strange, quirky habits of your Japanese spouse/SO

So, here is mine.

Love my wife to bits, but the way she washes dishes drives me nuts. She literally washes EVERY cup and plate separately. First, soaps up the sponge. Next, thoroughly washes ONE coffee cup from stem to stern. Next, puts down the sponge. Now, rinses the ONE coffee cup for about 30 seconds, endlessly filling and refilling it with clean water. Finally, puts it in the dish drying rack. Now, more soap for the sponge and repeat with the second coffee cup.

Same with silverware. Wash and rinse each piece individually.

Touch of OCD perhaps? She almost passed out when she saw how we did it in Canada- wash everything in a sink full of sudsy water, then toss into the next sink to dry. No long rinsing, no individual care. Maybe somewhere in the middle of the two is a happy medium…
