Does anyone else get the slip to update their residence card information ***every time*** they use the JP Post ATM?
I updated the information online on Friday after the ATM refused to work (with the same information I entered the last two times 🙄), and was able to use it Monday, but I got the slip again.
Anyone know where to watch the Japanese Lego Masters show that aired last May on TBS?
Does anyone else get the 円安 talk almost daily nowadays or is it just me?😭
It’s mostly middle aged Japanese though, but whenever I have an encounter with people around their 50s or 60s nowadays, they almost always bring it up and start telling me how good it is for me because the yen is weak and the usd is stronger despite knowing that I am not from the US (these are either people who know me or they ask where I am from and then start talking about this topic). One lady added though that “oh well I don’t know about euro but that is probably stronger too”, well the thing is my country doesn’t even use euro, and our currency is not strong at all I would say. Just an example, the same amount of money that 5 years ago gave me around 93-95000 yen when I exchanged it would only give me around 83-84000 yen now.
Of course I don’t expect these people to know that my country doesn’t use euro, but idk why they always bring it up and talk about how 1 yen is now x amount of usd when they know I’m not American. And they also almost always add that “good to be a foreigner now like you”. I also cannot really add anything to the topic apart from telling them that we actually don’t even use euro and our currency is still weaker I think (which half of the time they refuse to believe btw), as I’m not really an expert of currencies.
Uh sorry it got long lol but really for like almost two months now, I get this topic so often I wondered if any other foreigners have similar experiences.
Is there a website I can use to compare gyms in my area? I know I can just make a spreadsheet (and that’s my current plan), but I was wondering if there might be a site dedicated to this.
Have they announced a date yet for when JLPT results will be posted online? I know they’ll be sent out in “early February”, per their website, but with the July test, it was online towards the end of August prior to being sent out proper in September. Would like to know *what* night, particularly, I have to stay up past midnight to refresh the results page repeatedly.
What kind of tests are they doing on stool samples for health checks? Are they just checking chemicals or looking for things (parasites/eggs) with a microscope or what?
Anyone knows how the NTT Flets ONU works in terms of authentication? Can I get my device, go to someone else’s place, change their ONU with mine and get online?
any good resources in English or Japanese to learn more about ramen and tsukemen styles? have discovered jiro and iekei recently and am fascinated
Has anyone switched from Android to iPhone on docomo using eSIM? I was given a US iPhone while visiting over the holidays and am losing my mind trying to transfer the eSIM over. Not sure if it’s because the phone is a US model, but nothing has worked so far. I feel like there should be a way to reissue the eSIM, but at the store they said they couldn’t do anything.
Do Japanese couples ask each other “how was your day?” or anything similar? This is kind of a cultural thing for me, a conversation starter, and shows interest on the other person, but then, it feels like Japanese people are not exactly great with personal communication. Just saying “otsukaresama” doesn’t have the same effect, it’s not a conversation starter. Is there any other phrase that can be used without sounding weird?
Lets talk Sheet metal. Im trying to get some smaller sheets of sheet metal to put into a tool box to hold models that Ive magnetized.
I took a quick jaunt down to my viva Home and found out all the sheets of metal…were aluminum.
So…how does one get some cuts of sheet metal here?
