Preface: I’m not upset about any of this, just curious.
Recently an elderly neighbor died in their apartment. The police rang my bell to see when the last time I’d seen them was. The thing that bothered me is they rang and then immediately tried to open my door. I was near the door and the officer pretty much simultaneously rang and tried to push my door open.
What are the laws about police entering homes without a warrant or being invited in? Is this normal behavior?
My Japanese was good enough to be helpful but I wanted to ask him why he tried to come in without my permission, which I wasn’t able to do.
