My Yakisoba sauce is way too ketchupy?

I love yakisoba so I tried to make it at home, using this recipe for the sauce:

[https://www.justonecookbook.com/yakisoba-sauce-recipe/](https://www.justonecookbook.com/yakisoba-sauce-recipe/)

It calls for the following:

* 3 Tbsp oyster sauce
* 2 Tbsp ketchup
* 1½ Tbsp soy sauce
* 1½ Tbsp sugar (to taste)
* 7 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce

I followed that recipe exactly and my yakisoba came out really bad. It tastes like straight up ketchup. The flavor is so overpowering!

Did I do something wrong? I used Heinz “Simply” ketchup (advertised as having no artificial sweeteners). Could this be the reason? Maybe the yakisoba I’m used to isn’t authentic, and this is what it’s actually supposed to taste like? Is it just a bad recipe? That seems unlikely as everyone else seems to love it. Just wondering where I went wrong. Please help!!
