People who had part-time jobs here you liked, what did you do?
I never get hired with full time jobs here in Japan. I am really frustrated that when can I get full time jobs. 😢😢😢😢 I’m kinda lonely.
So anyone been watching the Nishikigoi short drama series at the end of Zip! news? The one about the origins of the comedy duo?
They made it up to the year 1997 finally, but the producer still using the Showa-looking decor & sepia tones to evoke nostalgia don’t quite sit right with me for events around the turn of the millennium.
We had keitai/PHS by then and were in peak visual-kei band days! So I picture the era as more gray, black, & white; darker tones overall. With some brown thrown in for the checkered skirts and chappatsu hairstyles of the Amura- girls.
This weekend I was eating at a popular cheap gyudon restaurant, one where you sit on stools around a counter while the server in front of you prepares your meal. A guy around my age sat next to me. As he did, he asked for water and an official receipt. The server gave him a water but he didn’t want that glass, he pointed to another one that was also filled with water right next to it. I thought, what the hell?? The lady complied.
Then the guy started making odd noises, like some sort of hee or faint laughter, and started looking at me when I started eating. I got really cautious and made sure to glance just enough so that if he pulled a knife or something I’d see and back off.
Then he started reciting the station names of the Rinkai line. Almost perfectly. “Ariake”. “Daiba”. And making noises in between, I’m guessing the background noise you’d expect on a train. That’s when I figured he was just on the spectrum and was pretty harmless. Then I felt calm and also kind of liked that he was around lol. I really did feel like I was on the Rinkai line.
1) Whats this I’m hearing about most daycares here making parents take home their kids’ dirty diapers?? I’ve been here for 3 years and just learning about this now. How ridiculous. But “Japanese ppl oh so clean!!” Its like, oh here is your child. Also, here is a giant gomi of your child’s shit. omochikaerimasu!
2) 7-11’s exclusive Mitsuya Craft Fruits “Concord Mix” is so good. I recommend you all try it. I don’t even like soda but this is so fucking delicious.
3) Just really sad and worried about my 7-month old. She flat out refuses to eat any solids from the start. Also she has yet to sit up on her own. I hope this isn’t a sign of an underlying problem…. we have a doctors appt today but I’m not so enthusiastic about it because most of the time the doctor says every problem we’ve had is “no problem at all!”
4) Flights direct to my local airport back home in the U.S. is still so expensive but the flights that have 2 stops in between is significantly cheaper. If I were solo or with my husband only, this would highly not be an issue but we have 2 children. I don’t think we would be able to make it through such a long journey with our sanities intact. Also the flight to an airport in a different state is waaaaaay cheaper but taking a cab home would take over an hour and I would literally lose my marbles if the cab driver started a conversation with me. I have social anxiety and don’t like to have small talk.
Sorry, 3) and 4) should have waited for the complaint thread but I just have to get it off my chest.
I know this is not a complaint thread, but **Rakuten Mobile, you suck.** You’ve spent almost USD 2 billion on this tiny island nation’s network upgrade, but call drops occur frequently, there’s no network in the basement, in the thick urban jungle. Why can’t you guys build a reliable network for a nation that boasts itself of reliability?
Why are some trends here so horribly dated? Like the styling of that バゲット morning show looks like it came straight out from 2010.
And horrible interior styling I see in some magazines
How do you cut down on drinking when a Strong Zero is available on every street corner, 24/7?
