Japan high school student visa help please

Hello r/movingtojapan, I’m looking for some clarification before I seek a solicitor. I plan to apply for the long term sightseeing visa in October, and renew it until I am ready to apply for a business manager visa. So far, so good – everything is peachy on this side and there are no issue. However, my 15yo son will need a student visa, since there is no other option for him to join me under my visa.

For more context: we are Australian citizens and considered Australian residents for tax purposes but we have been travelling overseas for the past 12 months (mostly in Japan), and we don’t have a fixed residence in Australia any longer. The long term sightseeing Japan visa will grant me 6 months renewable stay, that allows me to be considered a resident of Japan (which I need for my son’s visa)

To apply for a student visa my son will be required to have a guardian in Japan- which would be me.

Is the fact that I am on a 6 months renewable visa going to be an issue when it comes to immigration?

The reason I am not applying for a business manager visa immediately is because the idea of starting a new business in Japan with no practical foundations is daunting. I think that slowly easing into it without pressure would be a better experience. My Australian company is a cosmetics manufacturing facility/ ecommerce business – we can expand in Japan, but it would require a lot of research and ground work (importing, labelling, etc)

Also, if anyone has a better option, please let me know. I’m open to suggestions!
