After few years living in Japan, I feel there is a little difference in the way they treat you depending on your nationality.
I dont say its discrimination but there is a subtle difference.
Western people of course are being liked the most. Inside Asia, I would say they like Korean, then Chinese. I feel there is tendency to become friends easier with people from rich countries.
People from less wealthy countries like South East Asia or African dont often receive affection.
