Anyone else got rejected when creating a bank account + debit card with rakuten?

I’ve been trying to get a debit card for at least a month, but the three times I applied (first and second time with yucho, third time with Rakuten) I’ve been rejected. Is there something I’m doing wrong? It’s so frustrating because I’ll need a debit or credit card to pay for my new apartment’s rent since I’m moving in a few months.

Do you know if this particular apartment allows you to pay the rent with a credit/debit card? Most places don’t let you do so and many of those that do requires you to have a specific credit card.

That aside Sony Bank would be your best bet.

  2. I’ve read that Sony Bank automatically gives you a debit card when you make an account, and that you can make an account via an English language app, so that might with a shot.

As far as Yuucho goes, it seems the requirements to get one are really steep, and that having less than a year left on your visa (which is virtually guaranteed if you’re still on a year to year working visa) is grounds for an automatic rejection.

  3. Yes, with Rakuten, but it was two months of back and forward providing them documents before they rejected it, for reasons they don’t have to disclose.
