Probably overthinking this but I need to get a reference from my supervisor but I’m worried about giving my company the hint that I’m thinking of leaving.

I’m in an ALT role and am applying for a role at another ALT company.

I feel like my position living and working in JP is more precarious than if I were still living back home. I guess I’m afraid that my current company might drop me in which case (assuming I can’t get any other work) I’m screwed (or am I?).

I know and fully acknowledge that I am probably massively overthinking this and should just ask my supervisor for the reference, but I figured that I’d ask here just in case.

EDIT (More info): I’m coming to the end of my contract, which is why I’m looking for a new job.
