After diving into Japanese studies for almost 2 years, I’ve built a solid word base using Heisig’s Remembering The Kanjis method and reaching nearly 3000 words of the Core 2k / 6k deck on Anki. Concerning grammar I’ve only reached lesson 8 of Genki 1 focusing on creating a strong foundation. However, I’ve hit a roadblock in my listening skills and need your guidance.
My listening abilities need a serious boost. I attempted with the first episode of Neon Genesis: Evangelion, but it turned out to be a bit too advanced with specific terminology, resulting in 280 Anki cards for just 25 minutes of the episode.
So I’m on the lookout for an anime that features everyday and actually useful vocabulary, making it more approachable for my current level. I want something that not only improves my listening skills but also allows for useful sentence mining.
Do you have any anime recommendations that strike the right balance? Where would you suggest I start given my current level? Your insights and suggestions are much appreciated!
