Hey all,
I tried searching for this but my situation is a bit different than the answers I found. My wife is a JET and coming up on the end of her contract. We’d like to stay here in Japan and buy a house, but take a year or two off of working and focus on our hobbies. We’re very fortunate to own rental properties that basically generate about the same income as what JET would pay, but since one is in the UK and one is the US, it seems Japan does not recognize them as income.
Others have mentioned that going to a Japanese language school qualifies for a student visa. Others have mentioned starting a YouTube channel and applying for an “entertainner visa”, but I’m not even sure this is real and since I’m not very entertaining or handsome, I don’t think this route would be very successful.
At this point, would going to school be my only option for retaining a visa and staying in-country?
