EORs: Do I have to use their benefits?

Essentially the title. Partner has a job offer in Japan and my company is looking at using an EOR for me to work remotely (we’re in the US). However, I’m a bit confused on whether or not I *have* to use all of the benefits offered by an EOR. Admittedly, I’m very ignorant about what the benefit packages actually include, but the main thing I’m worried about is my 401k. As I’ve already started one here in the States, it would be nice to continue contributing to it. However, I don’t know if this is technically allowed given the entity paying me is in Japan, and I have not found a definitive yes or no on whether I must only contribute to a DC in Japan. If anyone has any insight or experience they’d be willing to share, it would be greatly appreciated.
