I will be visiting Tokyo March 12-17 and have mapped out my day splits based off points of interest and neighborhoods. How do able is this itinerary and am
Day 0 March 12:
Arrive at Narita 5pm
Get to hotel in Shinjuku 7/8pm
Get dinner at gyukatsu motomura then explore Shinjuku. Hoping to check out Golden Gai, kabukicho, omoide yokocho as time permits. Definitely want to do an izakaya in the area
Day 1 March 13:
Checkout tsukiji outer market around 730/8am. I will be here on a Wednesday and I read that it’s one of the days most of the shops are closed. If this is true is this area still worth checking out?
Teamlabs planets reservation at 9am
Lunch in Ginza 11-1pm
Shopping in Ginza 1 -4/5pm
Head back to the hotel in Shinjuku to freshen up and get ready for dinner reservations at 8pm
Head to Shibuya/Harajuku around 5ish to walk around and do more shopping.
Was thinking of booking the Shibuya sky tree for this early evening time
AYCE yakinuku dinner 8pm in Shibuya. Already have reservations
After dinner checkout the Shibuya nightlife or head back to Shinjuku and do more of the night life there since it’s closer to the hotel
Day 2:
Going to Disneysea for the day
Day 3:
Heavy Shopping day
We want to check out the giant BOOKOFF bazaar in Saitama. Been seeing how amazing the vintage selection is here on tiktok. It opens at 10am so probably head there around 830am by train from Shinjuku
BOOKOFF from 10-12pm
Lunch after in Saitama then head back to the hotel.
This is where I’m unsure what to do. We really want to do more shopping and are very interested in checking out Shimokitazawa or keonji for vintage shopping. The stores there are exactly why we are coming to Tokyo. Does it make sense to go from Saitama to Shinjuku (hotel) then to Shimokitazawa or should we go directly from Saitama to Shimokitazawa? I know it’s going to be a long travel day based off Google maps. My other alternative to Shimokitazawa is to head back to Shibuya and shop there and Harajuku since it’s closer to the hotel.
Day 4:
This is our last full day in Tokyo
Heading to Asakusa to check out Sensoji and the surrounding areas around 9am.
Planning to get lunch around this area
After lunch head to either Ueno or Akihabara to sightsee to finish off the day
Day 5:
Head to Kyoto around 9/10am
I think this itinerary looks good but I’m just unsure about the shopping day on day 3. Is it too ambitious? Based off my plans for the other days we don’t really have any other time to hit up the Saitama Bookoff and Shimokitazawa so I think I have to squeeze them into the same day. My main focus for Tokyo is shopping if you couldn’t tell. Any tips would be greatly appreciated!
