Lost my PASMO, is the balance gone?

Hi all,

I realized today that I dropped my PASMO and can’t find it by retracing my steps.

It is registered to my name so I’m sure I can get my teiki reissued but there was also cash on it. I’m assuming that the cash won’t be put on the new card, but can anyone who finds the card use the cash on the card? I had literally just topped it up and has just under 20,000 on it.

Hurts to think about it, going to the station at lunch. I’ll find out how to get my new PASMO on my phone as seems much easier.

Thanks for any input!

  1. this one time I lost my card, and got it reissued, found 1000 extra in balance

I would get that card reissued ASAP as the teiki on the card invites people to use it

even more so if they find out there’s 20k on it

switching the pass to your phone is as simple as scanning the IC to your phone, effectively burning the physical card and all information seamlessly gets transferred to the app (I’ve only experienced this with a suica though, pasmo may be different)

  2. Did you ask the closest Koban/station near where you dropped it? Someone may have turned it in. If someone picks it up they can use it within your teiki route, and they can use all the balance at anywhere that takes IC cards as payments

  3. isn’t that literally the point of registering it? the fact that if it were to get lost, they can deactivate the old card and transfer your balance (as long as someone doesn’t find it and drain it before you get it replaced)
