Hello everybody. Home network question:
My Internet router is currently connected directly to the wall via a very short WAN cable going into the WAN port of the router.
As I don’t want my wifi router to be below/on/next to my bed, I tried to move it in my apartment using a longer LAN cable (looking exactly like the short WAN cable they gave me with the router, just longer) by plugging it the same way: one end to the wall port and the other end to the WAN port of the router.
Doing that doesn’t work. The router emits a wifi signal but then I get a “impossible to use this internet connection” message on my devices. The LAN cable I bought works normally when connected from one of the LAN port of the router to another device like computer so it is not the issue.
I researched online but it doesn’t seem possible to buy a WAN cable separately in Japan… Any idea on how to solve this, or am I stuck with my internet router under my bed forever ?
