Hi, I am planning to move to Tokyo in the next 2 months on a dependent spouse visa to start with. I have been working with some leading startups from US/APAC for last 7+ years in tech adjacent roles (growth, program manager).
From what I have understood so far about the job market, language seems like a mandatory requirement for companies of almost all sizes.
Is there a way for me to understand startup hiring? Do startups hire foreigners? I do plan to stay in Japan for a long time but wanted to start learning Japanese in parallel with a job (if I can find one). What are some of my options?
I’d love to get advice/any recommendations or suggestions as I navigate through this move in the next 3-6 months. Thanks a lot in advance!
