Itinerary Check: two days for Hiroshima/Miyajima in mid-April

Hey guys, some friends and I (four people total) are going to Japan for two weeks and we’ve decided to fit a couple days in for Hiroshima and Miyajima We’ve already booked an overnight stay in Miyajima, and I just wanted people’s thoughts on whether our itinerary sounds reasonable.

**Day 1 (Thursday, April 11)**

* Shinkansen from Kyoto to Hiroshima in the early morning
* Do Peace Memorial Park (Atomic Dome, Museum) first thing in the morning (Museum opens at 8:30am)
* Try Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki (Okonomimura?)
* Catch a late ferry to Miyajima, check in to our hotel and explore the town at night. (We know everything will be mostly closed, we just want to experience the town lit up without the crowd)

**Day 2 (Friday, April 12)**

* Mt.Misen (ropeway)
* Itsukushima Shrine
* Do some light exploring/souvenir shopping in Miyajima
* After leaving Miyajima we’d also have time to do anything in Hiroshima we didn’t have time for on the first day
* Take Shinkansen from Hiroshima to Osaka. arrive in Osaka sometime in the evening.

Thoughts? My biggest concern is being able to do the first day in time to catch the last ferry to Miyajima (4:10pm with JR or 5:10 through the peace park one). I’m also curious whether you guys think Okonomimura is worth it, I’ve heard it gets really crowded and with a group of four I would be totally okay with going to a restaurant instead.

Thanks guys! I’d also love to hear any food/activity recommendations if you have any 🙂
