Sorry in advance if this is a stupid question. My husband just got a job with an American company on a military base. This is our first move to another country as a family of five and I’m stressing about having the correct documents. We have two wild little ones. I’m trying to have everything in order to save us from the stress once we get there and not deal with grumpy wild toddlers and paperwork! We all have passports, medical documents, prescriptions along with doctor letters. My main concern is having the correct travel orders so we can all enter under the sofa status. Does anyone have a travel order template they’ve used or helpful information on what needs to be listed on the travel orders? I just want to make sure that once we get through the 16 hour flight we won’t have any surprises there!

There’s a second SOFA passport needed for dependents. That’s the one you need to use for entry.
Contractor or Govvie? Your gaining command will issue travel orders if they are required. You’ll need to check them and make sure everything is correct and that all the dependents are listed. Are you flying commercial or patriot express? If your flying the patriot you’ll land on base and the customs procedures are a little more friendly. Do you have pets? Bringing pets to Japan can be a nightmare.
