Let me be clear, NJPW is fine and in no danger of dieing like ECW did. But for fans that followed wrestling in the 90s the comparison is obvious. ECW at the time was setting the tone for what wrestling was, counter culture and hardcore. The WWF and WCW took their talent and attitude, leaving ECW with the need to rebuild over and over again.
AEW and WWE are creating a bidding war that is very good for the wrestlers just like it was in the 90s. But as a fan of wrestling, it pisses me off to again watch a company that is the reason for this wrestling renaissance be gimped over and over again and not be rewarded for making wrestling what it is today.
NJPW will be fine, but they deserve to be doing better then fine.
It just sucks that you need endless money to keep anything of value in this world, even when you are the one that created that value. Basically this is me just venting about how shitty the business world is lol. Anyway, I hope everyone has a good day.
