Itinerary Check & questions – 13 day honeymoon in June.

Dream trip coming up for our honeymoon. Have my rough itinerary lined up. We love to explore, take pictures, eat and see the sights. It’s our first time doing a multi-city trip like this so a bit nervous. Would love any advice! 🙂

Really looking for advice on if we’re spreading too thin. Mainly by trying to see Osaka/Kyoto and then Hakone. I really want to do the Ryokan there as a more intimate part of the trip. Had a few questions:

* Should we cut one city and spend more time somewhere else?

* I’m really into art photography (Fukase, Moriyama, etc). Any exhibits, museums, book shops anyone reccomends?

* We were thinking for Osaka/Kyoto we use one hotel in Osaka as our home base.

* I wanted to do the romancecar either to or from Hakone. Are we better off going Tokyo>Hakone>Osaka/Kyoto>Tokyo? or the way I have it below?

* Since it’s our first time are we trying to do too much? I feel like there’s SO much in Tokyo that i’m worried about it.

DAY 1 (6/2):
* Arrive at 2:30PM Local time at NRT. Taxi/Train to hotel near Ueno Station, get checked in, get Sims.

* Spend remaining time grabbing dinner and hanging nearby.

Day 2 (6/3):

* Shinjuku Gyoen Garden in the morning.

* Head over near Akihabara for exploring. Lunch at Jangara Ramen.

Day 3 (6/4):

* Take the train to Shibuya.

* Explore the area and see Shibuya crossing.

* Visit Pokemon Center, Nintendo store.

Day 4 (6/5):

* Spend the early day exploring nearby shrines.

* Return to the hotel mid afternoon and get freshened.

* Head to Tokyo Tower and then plan for nice dinner nearby.

Day 5 (6/6)

* Fuji Excursion train early AM and see Chureito Pagoda, ropeway, etc. Return to Tokyo in evening.

Day 6 (6/7):

* Checkout of Hotel and take the JR to Osaka.

* Check into hotel upon arrival and spend day exploring.

* Dotombori for drinks and dinner.

Day 7 (6/8):

* Exploration day and eating everything. Osaka Castle, Isshin-ji.

Day 8 (6/9):

* JR to Kyoto to see Kinkakuji, Ryoanji, Ninnaji, and the Bamboo Grove.

Day 9 (6/10):

* JR to Kyoto for more exploring and anything we missed day prior.

Day 10: (6/11):

* Checkout of hotel and take the Shinkansen to Hakone for Senkyoro private villa.

Day 11 (6/12):

* Spend day relaxing and using the springs.

Day 12 (6/13):

  1. Q1 That itinerary doesn’t look rushed at all. To me, it’s close to prefect because it has plenty of flexible time for spontaneous things. The only thing that could make is better is an extra week or two (or ten 😊).

Q3 Using Osaka as a base to see Kyoto (or vice versa) is fine. They are less than an hour apart by even the regular train.

Q5 Don’t be, just accept the “unfortunate” reality that you need to start planning your next trip to Japan 😉

  2. Just beware it’s a rainy season. I think it might be cheaper and less crowded but the weather might be bad.

  3. You might want to check out Artedly. They partner with cafes in Tokyo to display various works of art and photography. They also hold events, too.

  4. Just know that June is rainy season here and at any given moment a monsoon of rain can come down and completely wreck your plans for a day. Either be prepared to be soaking wet if you’re still going out or have some indoor backup plans in case you need to stay inside.
