Hi folks, I am currently freelancing in Japan and am drafting up client contracts with some more specific terms after learning the hard way that sometimes clients don’t pay on time or at all. Contracts will cover payment timings, grace periods, penalty fees etc. Obviously, contracts aren’t magic and won’t solve all my problems, but I’d like a solid contract to work with.
I’m based in Japan so I operate as a Japanese self-owned business; some of my clients are abroad. I’m looking for a Japan-based lawyer (Japanese speaking or bilingual is ok) who can look over contracts on a consultation-basis and give me pointers on wording and risk management.
Knowledge of Japanese/Japanese law is a must, and bonus if they know U.S. or UK law as well.
Anyone have suggestions for freelance-friendly business lawyers?
