Roku Kyoto LXR

Planning a trip to Japan next year for my 50th birthday. October 2024 so during autumn season. Because it is a big milestone birthday, I’m staying in luxury hotels which are much higher than my normal budget. I’m a Hilton Diamond member so tend to stay at Hilton properties. Roku Kyoto is their only property in Kyoto, part of their LXR brand. The hotel looks great and I can get a room there with a private onsen. But I also realize it is not in the city center so would be a further commute to temples and other tourist activities. I’ll have a private guide most days with a car, so not worried so much about public transportation. I’m just wondering if the location of this hotel is too far away. I kind of like that it is in a more peaceful suburban area, which sounds like a good place to relax after a long day of sightseeing. But I’ve never been to Kyoto (or Japan) before so need advice. For comparison, I’m also considering the Ritz Carlton which I know has a great location but is also significantly more expensive. Also considering the Mitsui which is similar price to the Roku.

Questions:

\- Does anyone have experience with the Roku Kyoto? Do you recommend? Any issues with the location?

\- Will it be a hassle to drive / ride into the city center area to see tourist sites each day? Is it not worth it to stay out in that location and better to stay in city center?

Thanks,
