My girlfriend and I are planning a 3 week trip to Japan in October/November, it will be our first time and we want to make the most of it. We are spending 6 days in Kyoto and Tokyo, but we are still deciding where to visit with the other 9 days.
So far we are thinking of spending a couple of nights in (or very close to) Shirakawa-go, maybe a night or 2 in Osaka and potentially a ryokan near Mt Fuji.
I was hoping to get some recommendations on places to visit, or to just hear about your favorite places and why you like them.
For the sake of recommendations our interests are pretty broad: food (street food to michelin dining), nature/gardens, cultural sites, historical sites, architecture, adrenalin pumping activities, nerdy stuff (anime, gaming, tech), bars/distilleries etc.
