Long time lurker, but I really wanted to get some advice!
Thanks in advance for taking your time to read my silly story.
I came to Japan almost 2 years ago to study in a language school and hopefully get a recommendation letter to a university. That was my plan, but it didn’t come out as well as expected. Unfortunately, I became involved in a scam, which took some time to unravel. Thankfully, I no longer have any ties to that particular school, but it had a significant impact on my plans here.
When all that situation was settled, I finally had a chance to sit down and rethink what I should do to achieve my objective here. I was thinking of trying to enroll in a university by myself (starting in April 2024 if possible), but I don’t really have now all the money needed for all the 4 years (I will be able to save enough for the first year at best) and a lot of thoughts about not being able to fit in as an older undergraduate (by that time I will be 24 years) or not having enough japanese ability to study at all…
But putting my anxious thoughts aside, about the money needed, I’ve heard about something called “education loan” (教育ローン) and done some research about how it works and things like that, but there are a lot of different options and I’m pretty lost. It’s not certainly that I will be accepted in that said university, but having the financial part solved will bring me a lot of peace to pursue all the next steps.
Visa is not a problem (long term resident) and I have N1, but I struggle a lot when communicating to people due to anxiety (trying to overcome this, but it’s pretty hard)
TL;DR I just wanted to know how to properly get in to this “education loan”, if possible some pros and cons of it, or if someone who has already done that or knows someone that could give me some advice. Thanks in advance!
