Recommendations for Tea Plantations Tours Focusing on Cultivation, Processing and Tea Culture

Hello Kyoto Subreddit!

I’ll be visiting Kyoto from August 12th to the 14th, and I’m highly interested in delving deeper into the world of Japanese tea. I’m particularly interested in the tea cultivation process, from the fields with the tea plants to the processing and, of course, the rich tea culture itself.

I’ve been looking into tours and while I’m more than happy to pay for the experience, I’ve been running into a couple of issues. Some of the tours I found are not available during our visit (it seems there might be holidays), and others don’t seem to focus enough on the actual tea plants, which is a key point of interest for me.

Does anyone have recommendations for a comprehensive tea plantation tour in or near Kyoto, where I can learn more about the tea cultivation and production process, and also indulge in the tea culture? Ideally, the tour should be accessible and offered in English.

I’d appreciate any and all recommendations. Thanks in advance!
