Hello, my girlfriend is very into literature (primarily British/American/French, studies comparative literature at an Ivy League school), but she has never read the Tale of Genji. For her birthday I want to get her a really special edition of the Tale of Genji, i.e. nice binding/cover, potentially some artwork inside as I know used to be common in illustrated versions of the scrolls, etc. I am thinking of getting her the Royall Tyler version in companion for easier reading, depending on the translation of the edition I end up getting her as the main gift. I am willing to spend quite a bit of money here, up to \~$500-$1,000 USD if it is really really special. Does anyone have any recommendations for a magnificent edition of the Tale of Genji?
