Hi r/kyoto. I’m here temporarily for work. Two years ago, I lost my mom. She was my world and it still hurts so much.
The anniversary of her passing is this weekend. I only arrived in Kyoto yesterday, I don’t know the city at all, though I do have my train card and Google maps. I’m looking for something I can do in a special place, a way to process my grief.
I’m not Buddhist, though I’m interested in Buddhism and spirituality in general. I’d like to be able to do something like a Buddhist ritual at a shrine to honor her, or light a lantern, for her on that day.
Thank you for your recommendations.
