Is Using a US Credit Card in Japan Considered Income?

事情:Two Americans living in Japan, less than five years so we are still within the “no need to report foreign income and capital gains” phase; I am taking IRA distributions but to my US Credit Union, not sending them to Japan. I cannot get a credit card here in Japan (been denied five times in two years) so I am considering using my US Credit card. I have money in my US credit union to cover the payments. My wife is telling me I shouldn’t use it because we will have to claim it in Japan as income.

Every time I put in things like, Japan, US, Tax Treaty, Income, Credit Card, I get a ton of sites discussing the tax credits you can claim in one country if you already paid in another, but nothing about using credit cards.

I cannot find anything online that specifically says that, so I’m wondering if anyone knows about this rule and if you have any links, or perhaps some good keywords I can use to find it.

Bonus Question: There are a lot of AI Accounting sites in the US that answer any and all questions about taxes, gifts, inheritance, etc. in the US, and they are really good at understanding specific questions. Does anyone know if there is such a site in Japan?
