Learning Japanese in 150 Days?

Hey!
I am headed to Japan in 150 days and wondering what is achievable to learn Japanese in that span? Wondering where I could find resources to help me with this?

  1. 150 days I would probably consider to be really really hard to do. You can get reasonably good in that time, though.
Try WaniKani, Taetim, livakivi, genki and read through other resource posts and YouTube videos about learning Japanese.

Start with Hiragana and Katakana, so basically two main ways of writing Japanese with Duolingo (takes about 1 week).
Then move on to vocab and kanji, as well as grammar.

Best of luck, have fun 😉

  2. Duolingo, pimsleur. Actually being in Japan is very helpful. But don’t expect too much in half a year. It’s a 5 year journey at least.

  3. The only way to learn it in that time is to memorize EVERYTHING you encounter down to the tea but for the average person, it’s not possible but what the others have said helps

  4. In 150 days you can more or less get able to use Japanese content with a dictionary or you can learn to talk about casual topics. Not likely both at the same time.

  5. I did JapanesePod101’s Survival Phrases before a trip here once and it helped a lot. I still use those phrases years later.
