I have no plans to leave Reddit completely as long as the commercialism is kept at bay, but I think it is healthy for both us and Reddit that there are alternatives, so that they do not see us as locked in.
[Lemmy](https://Lemmy.world) is very similar to Reddit. But it is a free, open-source, decentralized network with no corporate control. The registration process is smooth. After you register and verify your email, you can visit ‘[OsakaLife](https://lemmy.world/c/osakalife)’ and ‘[Osaka: Things To Do](https://lemmy.world/c/osakathingstodo)’. Join the community there.
It’s like here, but us locals can peacefully discuss which supermarket is best and how to navigate the city hall on [OsakaLife](https://lemmy.world/c/osakalife). Or go over to [Osaka: Things To Do](https://lemmy.world/c/osakathingstodo) and discuss nightlife and touristy things.
Come and contribute your perspective.
