Hi, will be with wife and 9yo during golden week. I need to go Tokyo/Osaka (before GW) and Kyoto/Tokyo (during GW). I have found flights for less than half the price of the shinkasen. Do you think it’s worth time and money to/from the airport instead of just taking the train which leaves you closer? My hotel in Tokyo is close to the Limousine bus which is cheap and I believe does the trip in some 40min. Of course at Osaka and Kyoto I will have to get a train/bus to the city centre. I will only take carry ons.
