Sale of foreign stocks and remittance date (which tax year?)

Hey all,

This seems to be a bit of an edge case and I can’t find any info on it.

I sold some shares (US account) Dec 30th 2023, however I didn’t remit the money into Japan until early 2024.

Does anyone know if this should go in my 2023 or 2024 tax filings?

Note: I’m a permanent tax resident (non US)
