Hello everyone, me (28M) and my fiancée (27F) are planning a trip to Japan for 14 days in March (13-27).
Most likely not buying JR pass, staying at tokio>kanazawa/shirakawago?>Kyoto>Tokio (+hakone?), using Ubigi e-sim.
The itinerary we have for now is as follows:
13 – landing in Narita at 19:30 – going to our airbnb, something quick to eat – sleep (most likely staying in Asakusa for the next 4 days as a base and doing day-trips to Kamakura and Nikko as needed)
14 – Asakusa + Akihabara
Senso-ji > Ueno > Imperial Palace
15 – West Tokio
Kabukicho, Shinjuku – just wandering around, nothing planned 🙂
16 – Kamakura
Enoshima
Kamakura daibutsu
Hokokuji Temple
Komachi dori
17 – Nikko
Shinkyo bridge
Rinnō-ji temple
Nikkō Tōshōgū
Futarasan shrine
Kanmangafuchi abyss
18 – Kanazawa
Kenrokuen Garden
Omicho Ichiba
19 – Shirakawago
20 – Kyoto (most likely will stay for the next 4 days in Kyoto as a base and day-trip to Osaka as needed)
Fushimi Inari Taisha
Higashiyama and Gion – renting kimono?
Kiyomizu-Dera
Kodaiji Temple
Yasaka Pagoda
Pontocho alley
21 – Kyoto
Arashiyama Bamboo Grove
Golden Pavilion
Central Kyoto and Kyoto Tower
22 – Nara
Kōfuku-ji
Isuien Garden
Todai-ji Temple
Nara Deer Park and Mt. Wakakusa
Kasuga-Taisha
23 – Himeji > Kobe > Osaka? or just Osaka + himeji castle
24 – Tokio – Animejapan convention
25 – Hakone (1 day trip/overnight – ryokan?)
26 – Tokio
Teamlabs borderless, planets, shopping for gifts, etc.
27 – Tokio + flight back at 23:30 from Narita
Do you have any suggestions – parts we should skip/add? Maybe add a ryokan stay in there somewhere with a private onsen? We are mostly planning on sticking to basic airbnb’s since whenever we travel we just treat our hotel/room as a place to sleep and leave our luggage at). Too much time spent on one thing or not enough? It’s our first time and we’re mostly just overwhelmed with the amount of choice there is for everything 😄 Me being mostly focused on culture, food, cars (we love our mx5 lol), games while my wife pretty much all the same + cosplay. We’ll appreciate any help 🙂
