  1. I just started learning japanese a few days ago. I am interested in the AJATT approach where people are able to learn much quicker.

I am able to read hiragana and katakana and know about 100 or so words now just using a 2.3k core anki deck. Starting my routine with about 50 minutes of anki and ending with several hours of various types of media.

Heres the thing, I understand maybe 5% of the media I am watching. I am watching slice of life style anime and simple nhk stories so it is easy to follow. But i dont understand the words. Is this still an effective use of my time since I dont understand most of the dialogue? I see a lot of people saying that you need understand to know 90+% of the words for it be beneficial. I just wanna hear what yall did starting out and maybe someone to give me some advice on what to do here.

I dont wanna annoy anybody here bc I legit just started. I dont expect this to be easy or quick. Its just hard sometimes not seeing if you are going to the right direction.

I have a few books on japanese like genki but ive always struggled learning from textbooks.

  2. Is “体調を崩す” an idiom? If not, what is the literal meaning of 崩す in this context? I find that the dictionary definitions don’t quite match up with sentences that use this phrase.

  3. Is it acceptable to write 之 with 2 strokes? (combining the 2nd and the 3rd)
