I need help with changing my couns into notes or at the very least larger value coins. I have a ton of 1/5/10円 coins and since I’ve arrived not long ago I don’t have yet a bank account. Is there anyway to just change it? I don’t know if I’ll be able to get a bank account as an exchange student so i would like to know if there’s a different way. I don’t really know if i wanna accumulate coins for 6 months 🥹

Any konbini or super cash register where you feed the coins in can be used to dump a handful in. The change will be in the largest possible denominations. Even return notes for coins.
Apparently there is a small chance the coin bins will fill up and it will start making a noise to get emptied, think of as negative feedback coin slot machine.
Bank demands charge to exchange these.
Dump it all into the self checkout register or whatever they called that payment machines
Start using your coins instead of accumulating them. It will never accumulate if you actively use them.
