Car insurance on a car I haven’t switched ownership of yet

Hi all,

So I am buying a second hand car, but I’m also moving.

I don’t have a car parking spot at my current apartment, but I will in my new one.

I was thinking of transferring the ownership after I move since I’ll be picking up the car the day I move. But, I want to drive it to my new place, which requires insurance.

I’ve looked at rakuten’s insurance but it says you must be the owner, and I assume for that I need to transfer the ownership. (If someone has a recommendation for a better insurance company I’m open to suggestions, but it needs to be a place that will give me insurance within a day or 2)

Is there a way to insure a car you are not officially the owner of for a day or 2?

Or can I somehow insure the car despite it still being under someone else’s name, with some sort of other proof I’ve bought the car?
