In the past, I’ve been scammed in some restaurants (overseas) where they add an extra zero to your bill or everything is significantly more expensive than what the menu said and you are pretty much held hostage until you pay. I managed to escaped without any financial dent because my credit card (Chase at that time) allowed me to chargeback the amount.
Now I’m aware that chargebacks aren’t a common thing in Japan. But is there a specific credit card company or higher level cards that allow you to chargeback in such situations. I am no longer resident in US for many years and can’t create any new American credit cards. Is Amex in Japan any good for this?
