My spouse and I are planning out potential move from Canada to Japan.
I meet the qualifications for J-Find visa, as well as the qualifications for a Working Visa. I have a degree and a tentative time-sensitive job offer in Japan.
My spouse on the other hand does not have a post secondary degree and would be working remotely in Japan on their existing sole proprietorship to generate income (as they are currently doing now in Canada) The reality is this is the only route as a degrees individual, to my understanding, is very difficult to hire in Japan.
I will either end up on a working visa if I accept this job offer, or on a J-Find visa if this offer expires / if I decline, only to be on a working visa on a later date after the move.
The question I can’t seem to find answer to – can my spouse “piggyback” off of my J-Find visa / work Visa without a degree and a COE themselves?
Even when reading the details on MOFA, it is stated that dependants (spouse or should) still require a COE for themselves.
Interested to hear anyone else’s experiences and how this situation should be navigated.
Thank you for reading
