Morning Commute via Shinjuku Line

Hello, I am very new to Tokyo. Hope you can help me. My morning commute is from Ichigaya Station to Shinozaki Station. I plan to take the 7am train. How crowded is it? I want to mentally prepare myself. Thank you in advance!

  1. If you’re traveling outbound on the Shinjuku Line, it’ll probably be a little crowded before completely emptying out at Bakuroyokoyama.

  2. We are in the same direction, I live in Shinjuku and go to work at Akihabara. I think you will be fine because we are the opposite of popular commuting route. People always live far away from city(Ichigaya or Shinjuku) and go to work there.

Not sure about 7am tho, I take the train at around 10am and there are always empty seats.

  3. I’m traveling quite regularly slightly later on Shinjuku line probs anytime from 7-8:10 in that direction and it’s not too bad at Ichigaya station as quite a few people get out. I’m usually on the 7th car or 9th/10th depending where I want to hop off at. Also, quite a few get off at Kudanshita and Jimbocho and can most times get a seat by then and then majority of people get off by Bakuroyokoyama and I definitely can get a seat by then. After that, it’s real chill.

Anyone know what’s going on? I’m in Nishi-Shinjuku and watched three firetrucks tear off, then 5 min later…
