1. I’m reading chapter 10 of Tobira and I’m trying to understand what the first part of this passage means (especially with the わけではなく). The chapter is in relation to Japan’s automatic vending machines:

   自動販売機はどこの国でも発達しているわけではなく、100万台以上ある国は世界でもアメリカと日本、そして、ドイツだけだ。

   I think the second part is saying that Japan, America, and Germany are the only countries that have over 1 million vending machines. But is the first part saying something like “even though vending machines are everywhere..” or something like that?

2. Hello Everybody! What’s the proper term/name of the wattle of a chicken/rooster in Japanese? I haven’t been able to find anything using a search engine.

3. Is it a bad habit to learn vocabulary by Kanji ?

   I find it much easier to remember the Kanjis making the word than to remember the readings

   Edit: to clarify, I mean when I encounter a new vocabulary word for example and I know the Kanji’s it’s made from, Or at least hey are easy to recognize, I don’t try to learn how the word is pronounced but rather just remember the kanji

4. I made a wild discovery about Japanese songs. Out of nowhere YouTube recommended me really old Javanese songs and they just sound like my cultures songs in term of toning and rhythm. I guess that makes sense as I am Asian but I was totally not expecting them to be that similar. The songs I knew before are only western-ish style (mostly anime songs).
