Not so much for watching shows or movies, but as a beginner, there’s a lot of learning content out there for listening. It often has subtitles in Japanese as well, which I can read pretty well (my reading is actually better than my listening atm).
So should I be reading along? Or just trying to listen and not read the subtitles?
