So something came up when I was talking to my Japanese friend (f) who recently married a non-Japanese person in Japan. They said that on the documentation they ask about your history of receiving seikatsu hogo. She reckons that if the Japanese partner is on it, or has even received it in the recent past you are very unlikely or cannot get the spouse visa for the non-japanese partner. I’m trying to find out more information on this but haven’t had any luck.
I know its probably a very rare situation. If true that seems crazy to me, but I wouldnt put it past Japan. I also just learnt that if you have been on seikatsu hogo it makes it harder for you to find a new place when searching too. I understand the stigma around seikatsu hogo can be quite different than other countries. If anyone has any information on this please let me know. Btw this is purely curiousity and not reflective of my personal situation or anything.
