Usage ○○た分?

Hello all,

You’re always so helpful!

I’ve been working my way through Haikyu recently, and stumbled upon a like that, no matter what, I just can’t seem to wrap my head around.

「烏野はローテーションをずらした分、びっくり速攻のびっくり感がまだ持続きしてるって感じですかね」

As a brief rundown, this is a line from one of two people discussing the state of events due to a recent play. 烏野 has a quick attack that is surprising only to those not used to it, and they switched up the rotations to effectively block out one of the opposing players who could do something about it, etc.

What I’m struggling to understand, is the need to use 分. What exactly necessitates this as the grammar point to be used here?
What exactly does pointing out how much they switched up the rotations make a difference? From my understanding, ○○した分 is used to emphasize HOW MUCH something effects another (the amount you ate is how much you have to run, for e.g). I’m not toooo familiar with this concept, so please do correct me if I’m wrong!

But then again, maybe I’m just looking at this all wrong! Thank you
