I’m curious on what the environment is like in the financial/investment advising industry in Japan? I’ve been told by some family living in Japan that most advisors are seen as scam artists pushing fx trading.
I currently work as a CFP at a boutique RIA in the U.S. Is the profession respected in Japan and are there CFP equivalents in the country? Do people actually use advisors in Japan? I’d think it is a needed profession in Japan seeing how old the population is and the vast majority being in their retirement years. I also heard many don’t actually invest their money and keep it in savings.
